We traveled about 17 miles in the New York Bay to Liberty Landing Marina, which is located in the New York Harbor on the New Jersey side. We traveled along side of Joe and Barbara Huber in Balahula. We took pictures of each other boats in front of the Statue of Liberty and exchanged them. It was so much fun! It was very moving to see Lady Liberty from our own boat, especially! She greeted us with her imposing figure and welcomed us to the New York harbor just as she has done for so many people and immigrants for over 100 years. She represents freedom and democracy. We have dreamed of this moment for so long and it brought tears to our eyes!

We settled into our slip in the marina. We then took the 15 minute ferry over to New York city. We were so excited to be in the city again. We usually would visit our grandson, Orion, who is attending Columbia University, but ironically he is in Tallahassee doing an internship at Florida State's Mag Lab. After a delicious lunch we spent the afternoon at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The Metropolitan is overwhelming. There are so many floors and exhibits, it could take weeks to see it all. We saw what we could and went back to the boat exhausted.
